About the role 

As a Senior Project Manager within the Planning Program Management Team of Systems and Asset Planning you will project manage the development of forward thinking, multi-driver responsive, customer focussed, integrated urban water servicing and waterway management plans that define the actions required to deliver upon the outcomes set in product and service strategies.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Manage the successful delivery of the planning and early design phases of predominantly medium to high risk/complexity projects within Sydney Water’s project delivery framework;
  • Seek to mentor Project Managers managing medium risk/complexity projects, within the team, providing support and leadership to enable the effective delivery of projects;
  • Lead collaboration across multi-disciplinary teams, in Sydney Water and the Supply Chain, to manage risk proactively and resolve complex issues;
  • Have strong stakeholder engagement capability, with the ability to anticipate stakeholder needs;
  • Ensure Project Plans include clear targets, objectives, any Key Performance Indicators, scope of work and deliverables which reflect the agreement between Sydney Water and the Supply Chain;
  • Ensure consistency, accuracy and efficiency in project delivery, cost and risk management of all assigned projects within and across asset classes;
  • Provide timely and accurate reporting on project status, including Key Performance Indicators, cost, schedule, risk etc against the Project Management Plan; and
  • Prepare Business Cases for medium to high risk/ complexity projects to meet client expectations, including options identification, analysis and recommendation.

About you 

  • Tertiary qualification in Planning, Project Management or Engineering related fields;
  • Proven project management experience delivering multi-faceted infrastructure planning and early design activities;
  • Proven leadership/ senior management experience is beneficial;
  • Communicates with impact to drive team performance and influence stakeholders, building strong and wide networks;
  • Minimum 10+ years industry experience, including:

-       Working within and leading large, multi-disciplinary integrated teams;

-       Demonstrated experience dealing with regulators and stakeholder groups;

-       Managing complex stakeholders;

-       Leading positive business change;

-       Mentoring teams and supporting the individual development of assigned staff; and

-       Understanding and experience with major water or other similar utility provider is desirable.
